How to Autogenerate Barcode Numbers in WooCommerce Barcode Plugin

The WooCommerce Barcode Plugin makes it simple to automatically generate unique barcode numbers for your store’s products. These numbers serve as the basis for barcode images, which are generated instantly and can be included in invoices, packing slips, and product displays.

📌 How Autogeneration Works #

Once the WooCommerce Barcode Plugin is installed and activated:

• A unique 6-digit barcode number is automatically generated for each product in your store.
• This applies to all product types:
  • Simple Products
  • Variable Products
  • Variable Child (variations)
  • Grouped Products
  • External/Affiliate Products

These numbers are unique to each product, ensuring every product’s barcode is distinct and scannable.

📋 Managing Barcode Numbers #

1️⃣ On the Product Edit Page #

You can manually update the autogenerated barcode number on the product edit page:

• Go to Products → Edit Product
• Locate the Barcode Number field in the product data section
• Enter your desired number and save

2️⃣ Using Quick Edit #

To make fast changes without opening the full product editor:

• Go to Products
• Hover over a product and click Quick Edit
• Modify the Barcode Number field and update

3️⃣ For Variable Products #

Each variation (child product) within a variable product will also have its own unique, autogenerated barcode number.

• Edit the parent product
• Scroll down to Product Data → Variations
• Each variation will have a unique barcode number, which you can edit if desired

⚙️ Customizing Barcode Number Length #

By default, barcode numbers are 6 digits. You can customize this length:

1. Go to Woo Barcode → Settings
2. Find the Barcode Number Length option
3. Enter the desired number of digits (e.g., 8)
4. Click Save Changes

Once updated:

• All existing and new products will reflect the new barcode number length.
• Barcodes will regenerate instantly based on the new number length.
